Experience over 19,000 years of American Indian History in the Ohio Valley Region, interpreters will be on hand all weekend. All American Indian interpreters shall be citizens of Federally recognized Tribes, including over a dozen citizens from the Tribes which historically called the region home. The 1620’s Monongahela village will be staffed with American Indian interpreters performing daily tasks. The 1770’s village will also have American Indian interpreters talking about life in the 18th century with the relationship to European Settlers to the region. The 19th century village will have American Indian Interpreters, who are citizens of the Federally Recognized Shawnee Tribe, talking about the Shawnee forced removal west of the Mississippi River in 1831-32 due to Andrew Jackson’s American Indian Removal Acts.
